Announcement: The School Psychology Program at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of associate professor, beginning in Fall 2027. The program includes a PhD program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) and approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), as well as a NASP-approved EdS program. With the addition of these hires, there will be five full time faculty positions, four tenure-track and one career. The School Psychology Program seeks candidates with a focused research agenda in any substantive area of school psychology, but is especially interested in candidates with applied research areas in academic or behavioral interventions, school-based mental health, curriculum-based measurements, experience in research and practices that emphasize equity and/or inclusion, and applied research with children who have neurodevelopment disabilities. The program is also seeking candidates with strong teaching skills and commitment to professional organizations at the state and national level, as well as an interest in collaborating with colleagues at the program, department, college, and university level. Qualifications and Responsibilities:
We invite applications from individuals with a record of excellence in research, teaching, and mentorship of Specialist and Doctoral-level graduate students. Applicants should have a defined program of research and potential for obtaining external funding. The expected teaching load is two courses per semester, with a particular need for instruction in the area of assessment (academic and behavioral) as well as school-based mental health. Additional opportunities exist for teaching courses related to areas of interest.

Required Qualifications: A doctoral degree from an APA-accredited school psychology program and a demonstrated record of excellence in research, teaching, and mentorship.

Preferred Qualifications: Licensed as a psychologist, or eligible for licensure, in the State of Utah; credentials as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP), supporting the supervision of graduate students; prior leadership experience within a school psychology program; professional experience as a school psychologist in a school-based setting; and experience providing effective school psychological services to students from diverse backgrounds and communities, consistent with program and University goals for serving students across Utah.

Responsibilities of the position will include:

Develop and sustain a program of scholarly research related to school psychology and closely related fields
Design, teach, and coordinate core courses at the graduate level in critical areas of school psychology (e.g., academic assessment and intervention, consultation/supervision)
Participate and provide leadership in interdisciplinary initiatives across the College of Education and University level
Advise and supervise graduate student research
Serve as an organizer, collaborator and/or principal investigator for research and service proposals to appropriate national agencies and foundations
Provide appropriate levels of service at the program, college, and university levels, as well as to the community and profession.

The University of Utah is located in the foothills of the Wasatch mountains in Salt Lake City. Salt Lake City is the center of a metropolitan area with a population of approximately one million residents, has extensive arts and cultural activities. The area has received international recognition for its new light rail system, foodie culture, downtown renewal, exceptional access to outdoor recreation, and diversity.

Appointment: July 1, 2027
Salary: Salary is commensurate with rank
