Job Summary

The Center for Community & Cultural Engagement (CCE) at the University of Utah supports student well-being and success by creating opportunities to connect, learn, and celebrate across cultures and communities. Through educational programs, events, partnerships, and community engagement, CCE works to foster a vibrant, welcoming campus where students can build meaningful connections and engage with various experiences, perspectives, and traditions. At CCE our expertise is in serving students through events, educational programs, and building community and connection on and off campus.

The Senior Manager develops strategies and goals to create and oversee CCE's programs and events, managing the daily coordination of that work along with volunteers, members, and staff. This role manages assessment for the Center ensuring learning objectives are measured and attached to every program. The Senior Manager also supports the development of events, workshops, trainings, and programs, supports the approval process on coordinator-led programs and events, and participates in hiring and performance appraisals. Broad knowledge of the field and proven leadership skills are required. This position reports directly to the director and will supervise full-time staff.

Responsibilities
Assessment Strategy & Implementation
  • Translate CCE's assessment priorities into actionable practice, and align assessment expectations with the Division of Student Affairs strategic plan and the University of Utah's Strategy 2030.
  • Ensure that internal learning objectives are consistently identified and assessed across CCE's programs and services.
  • Ensure that an assessment is attached to every event, training, workshop and program rolled out by the Center
  • In collaboration with university partners like University Analytics and Institutional Reporting (U-AIR), develop and maintain assessment tools, instruments, and processes that generate meaningful, actionable data.



Staff Supervision
  • Supervise managers, coordinators, graduate assistants, and student staff, with specific supervisory assignments determined by staffing needs.
  • Ensure accountability across team members for deadlines, deliverables, and program outcomes.
  • Support professional development.

Workshops, Trainings & Certificate Programs
  • Provide substantial support to the building and implementation of workshops, trainings, and programs offered through the Center.
  • Collaborate with staff on program design and learning outcomes for workshops, trainings, and certificates that align with CCE's mission and assessment priorities.

Program & Event Oversight
  • Provide strategic oversight, guidance, and implementation support for programs and events led by coordinators, ensuring alignment with departmental goals, timelines, and learning outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain systems, processes, and workflows that support efficient program and event execution across the team.

Strategic Planning Support
  • Support the implementation of strategic plans and translate departmental goals into operational priorities, timelines, and staff workflows.
  • Support and maintain relationships with campus and community partners, with a focus on program implementation and coordination.

Budgetary & Contract Support
  • Oversee collection of financial documents
  • Send out, track, and collect signed agreements and contracts with vendors, partners, and facilitators.
  • Pay invoices through approved university systems (e.g., eJournal, ePR, P-card, Ushop, etc.)

This position provides independent coordination and decision-making for the implementation of CCE's assessment practices, utilization and attendance data tracking, oversight of programs and events led by coordinators, and support for workshops, trainings, certificate programs, and campus and community partnerships. Outcomes often impact the Center's ability to demonstrate alignment with the Division of Student Affairs strategic plan and the University of Utah's Strategy 2030, and can influence decisions at the University level. The Senior Manager acts as a liaison between the Director, supervised staff, and internal and external constituencies involved in assessment, program oversight, and partnership efforts.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Requires:
  • Bachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years of directly related work experience.
  • Or a master's (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.





Preferences
Preferred areas of study: Business or Public Administration, Culture and Society, Education, Humanities, a related area.

Master's degree in Education or a related area preferred.
