Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Assistant Director of the Writing, Reading, Speech Assistance (WRSA) programs and other Tutoring and Academic Support Center programs and services with new and existing initiatives. Responsible for daily operations of WRSA. Serve as a member of the management team of the Tutoring and Academic Support Center.

  • Supervise the daily operations of WRSA.
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate and supervise Non-teaching Academic Assistant I (CATEGORY 5) coaches and ALL student workers.
  • Assist in the screening, hiring, training, and supervision of Academic Assistant II (CATEGORY 3) and Senior Academic Assistant (CATEGORY 1) coaches.
  • Responsible for maintenance of all online schedules and social media applications.
  • Monitor WRSA budget and initiate purchasing activities.
  • Review and submit expense requests in Concur.
  • Manage, update, and track WRSA records for current and past term students.
  • Compile and analyze data for use in statistical reports and program evaluation.
  • Conduct staff meetings to facilitate professional development, team building, and generate WRSA meeting materials. Maintain master calendars.
  • Provide assistance to students via all WRSA modalities.
  • Collaborate with the online scheduling vendor on updates and adoption of new features in the student scheduling program. Train staff on pertinent changes.
  • Assist in the coordination and planning of program specific events, marketing activities, meetings and committees.
  • Serve as WRSA liaison to COD faculty and staff in other departments.
  • Participate in college-wide committees and events that support the mission of the College of DuPage.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Bachelor's degree required.
      • Bachelor's degree in Education-related discipline preferred.
    • Experience
      • Two (2) years or more in learning support of high school or college students required.
      • Excellent oral, written, and technological skills required.
      • Expert knowledge of MS Office application skills required.
      • Five (5) years experience in an Education-related discipline with experience in learning or tutoring assistance preferred.
      • Supervisory experience in hiring, overseeing, and developing employees preferred.


    Working Conditions:

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, printer, copy machine, telephone, FAX, scanner, College of DuPage Colleague system, Concur, Hiretouch, Blackboard, MyAccess, and audio/visual equipment.
  • Regular 40-hour week with occasional adjustment of schedule, as needed; excellent communication skills and confidentiality, highly organized and competent with computers.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.

    Hiring Range:
    9 Hourly Starting salary beginning at $26.25/hr., based on education and experience.
