Director of Continuing Education at U Asia Campus

Job Summary

The Director of Continuing Education leads the design, growth, and delivery of non-degree, professional, and workforce education programs for the University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC). This role is responsible for building a sustainable continuing education portfolio through business-to-business sales, government and public-sector partnerships, and business-to-customer sales. The Director will develop market-responsive programs, recruit and manage qualified instructors, and coordinate closely with the Continuing Education team at the University of Utah Salt Lake City campus to ensure program quality, institutional alignment, and operational consistency. Additionally, this position will communicate and collaborate closely with Korean government agencies, including Incheon Global Campus Foundation (IGC) and Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZA).

This role requires both strategic leadership and hands-on execution. The Director will develop revenue-generating programs for corporate clients, government agencies, public institutions, professional associations, and individual learners. The position requires strong commercial judgment, relationship-building skills, awareness of academic quality standards, and the ability to operate effectively across cultures, institutions, and regulatory environments.

This position reports directly to the President of the University of Utah Asia Campus Industry Foundation (UIF), with a dotted-line working relationship to the Associate Dean of University Connected Learning at the Salt Lake City campus.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a continuing education strategy aligned with the institution's mission, local market needs, and standards of the Salt Lake City campus.
Identify high-demand program areas, including professional certificates, customized corporate training, government training, workforce development, language programs, short courses, and upskilling/reskilling initiatives.
Conduct market research to assess demand, competitor offerings, pricing, employer needs, and public-sector training priorities.
Create annual and multi-year business plans, including enrollment goals, revenue targets, pricing models, staffing needs, and program launch timelines.
Lead business-to-business sales efforts with companies, multinational corporations, local businesses, chambers of commerce, industry groups, and professional associations.
Build and manage a pipeline of corporate training prospects, including lead generation, outreach, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
Maintain long-term client relationships to support repeat business, account expansion, and multi-year training agreements.
Develop partnerships with government ministries, public agencies, municipal offices, embassies, state-owned enterprises, public institutions, and international organizations.
Identify public-sector training needs related to leadership, policy, administration, communication, technology, project management, English language, intercultural competence, and workforce development.
Recruit, evaluate, hire, onboard, and manage qualified instructors, trainers, subject-matter experts, consultants, and guest lecturers.
Serve as the primary liaison between U Asia Campus and Salt Lake City campus to ensure that the quality of the program meets the institutional standard.
Develop and manage budgets for programs, including revenue projections, instructor costs, marketing expenses, facility needs, and net revenue targets.
Other duties as assigned by the President of UIF at U Asia Campus and the Associate Dean of Continuing Education at Salt Lake City Campus.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience: 12 years of experience or a master's degree (or equivalency) + 10 years of directly related work experience.
Language proficiency: English and Korean (written/spoken)
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Strong intercultural communication, critical thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Preferences

Certified as a Level 2 or higher Lifelong Educator by the National Institute for Lifelong Education (NILE) under the Ministry of Education in Korea.
