Job Summary
This position will support the Division of Student Life and its departments by creating short-form videos and capturing high-quality photo content that engages our student audience and the CU Boulder campus community. This position will work closely with the social, photo and video team to create content for a wide range of topics across multiple channels and marketing mediums.
This includes capturing video and photo content, determining design composition and audio and visual flow to tell an engaging story. Additional responsibilities include storyboarding, copywriting, and basic graphic design skills.
In addition to creating videos and taking photos, this position will also produce social media content such as Canva designs, written posts, and trend-based ideas to recreate.
The coordinator ensures that all content is professional, compelling, accurate, audience-appropriate, and conforms to AP and university branding and style guidelines. Staff in this role need to be able to think about various audiences, accessibility, and inclusivity to ensure that content is appropriate and relevant. This position requires excellent critical thinking, bringing creative ideas to the table, eagerness to seek out and adapt to video, photo, and social media trends with an innovative spirit and willingness to try new things. This position may require attending occasional evening and weekend events to capture content as needed.

Student Life Communication & Marketing
Student Life Communication and Marketing is a full-service team that supports the Division of Student Life with strategic communication and marketing needs. Professional staff use their expertise and diverse skill set to create materials that engage, educate and promote Student Life departments. SL Comm collaborates with departments to develop and implement communication plans and tactics. The team strives to balance the goals of departments with the needs of our audiences and share communication that's timely and relevant. SL Comm also works closely with campus partners to ensure integrated campus-wide marketing and communications.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Communication and Marketing
- Coordinates and implements multiple communication and marketing campaigns through a variety of channels, including email, social media, digital, print, and web platforms.
- Ensures that all media platforms are fully used and coordinated with larger division campaigns by working collaboratively with other members of the Student Life Communication team.
- Creates, designs, reviews, and deploys communication tactics for a variety of campaigns.
- Assesses communications for effectiveness and engagement.
- Understands the relationship between design, content, and user experience and therefore adapts content as needed for each medium and audience.
- Reviews and edits thoroughly all communication pieces at each phase of the creation and deployment process.
- Identifies appropriate uses for videos and photos in the overarching communication plan.
- Maintains strong brand identity across all communication and marketing materials.
Communication Liaison
- Works with departments within the Division of Student Life and campus partners to develop and implement materials consistent with critical initiatives and branding.
- Stays abreast of industry developments to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities, including changes in regulations, technology, and standard processes.
What You Should Know
This is a hybrid work opportunity. The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, requiring some weekend and evenings for special events, as needed.

- The salary range for this position is $58,200 - $63,000.

What We Require
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- 1-3 years of experience creating video content for social media marketing campaigns.
- Experience working in a collaborative environment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
What You Will Need
- Exceptional storytelling, content creation, editing, and motion graphic skills.
- Experience creating short-form videos for social media outlets, using Adobe Rush, Premiere Pro, iMovie, or other in-app video editing services.
- Comfortable shooting with both an iPhone and a DSLR camera.
- Well-versed in the world of social and digital media trends, with a keen eye on what's relevant and an understanding of new tools that are being used.
- Familiar with TikTok and Instagram Reels and emerging video trends.
- Ability to create videos, take high-quality photos, and assist with social media management.
