Position Announcement

The Department of Computer Science invites applications for a non-tenure-track lecturer faculty position to begin August 2026. This is a 1-year position with the possibility of renewal. (www.uvu.edu/cs)

The computer science lecturer teaches undergraduate courses such as core computer science, networking, secure applications, web development, artificial intelligence, data science, and software engineering. The faculty member may attend and participate in departmental meetings and may serve on department committees related to their area of expertise and teaching.

The Computer Science Department offers ABET-accredited degrees in BS in Computer Science and BS in Software Engineering. The BS CS includes emphases in Computer Science, Full Stack Web Development, and Secure Computing. The department also offers a Master of Computer Science for working professionals, a BS in Computational Data Science, a BAS in Software Development, and a BS in Computer Science Education to train future high school CS teachers.

The department will accept all qualified applications, but is particularly interested in applicants with experience in Web Development, Databases, Cloud Computing, or Quantum Computing.

Summary of Responsibilities

Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms, online, and laboratories, through demonstration, discussion, visual aids, individualized instruction, lectures, and other appropriate methods for educational delivery.
Follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials to fit teaching style and may make minor modifications to courses. Evaluates student performance using appropriate testing and grading procedures.
Serves the department by attending departmental meetings and serving on department committees related to their area of expertise and teaching. No college or university-level assignments are expected or required.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated strength in and a passion for teaching.
Expertise in teaching mathematical subjects related to computer science, such as discrete structures, analysis of algorithms, artificial intelligence, and the theory of computation.
Practical software development experience.

Knowledge

Knowledge of and experience with computer science subject matter.
Knowledge of computer science curriculum and pedagogy.
Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following fields: software development, computer network applications, web programming, secure application development, cloud computing, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and databases.
