Operations Manager

Job Summary

The Vascular Surgery Division has an immediate opening for an Operations Manager position. Our team consists of 7 attending surgeons, 2 fellows, 12 advanced practice providers (APC), 2 research associates and 4 support staff. Our division hosts clinics and operates out of the University Hospital, Farmington Health Center and South Jordan Health Center. Our surgeons also travel to outreach clinics in Roosevelt, Utah, Rock Springs, Wyoming, Evanston, Wyoming, and Elko, Nevada. In addition to a robust clinic and OR schedule the division is extensively involved in the University of Utah research mission.
The Operations Manager is responsible for helping to plan, organize and direct core activities that occur on a weekly basis within the Division of Vascular Surgery across all clinical sites. They work closely with the Division Chief of Vascular Surgery to ensure that all aspects of the clinical, research and educational mission are being successful executed in a timely manner. In addition, they are responsible for acting as a catalyst between the division and other entities in the health care system to ensure continuity and quality of patient care.
This is a hybrid position but the first six months is expected in person at the HELIX Tower (administrative offices for School of Medicine) for training purposes.



Responsibilities
1. Facilitates effective workflow and communication between the vascular surgery team and other supporting departments within School of Medicine and the hospital.2. Responsible for managing the vascular surgery faculty schedule, as well as the personal calendars for all division attendings.
3. Collaborates with the ambulatory manager to ensure proper staffing and to ensure smooth clinical workflows for all providers.
4. Represents the division in coordination with other departments including outreach, the vein program, and the pediatric program.5. Supervises the support staff, including two administrative assistants who help with expenses, travel, licensing and credentials, and hiring.6. Helping division chief to oversee operating budget for the Division of Vascular Surgery, including monthly expenses and accounting.
7. Provides support for research personnel in the division and their mission.9. Coordinates the hiring of any employees and facilitates onboarding which includes university training, licensing and credentialing, etc.10. Coordinates with the department of surgery for administrative functions including accounting, human resources, clinical support, and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Senior Supervisor, Operations Management - Division/Business Unit (Non-Executive): Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience. Manager, Operations Management - Division/Business Unit (Non-Executive): Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
