Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
The Senior Environmental Graphic Designer works closely with University stakeholders to create innovative and compelling signage, wayfinding systems, visual designs, building identification, donor recognitions, school spirit banners, and environmental installations that align with the project's objectives and the KSU brand identity. The Environmental Graphic Designer (EGD) will combine their graphic design expertise with a focus on developing effective wayfinding solutions that guide users through complex spaces, ensuring a clear and intuitive user experience while navigating through the environment. The EGD will serve as the project manager for multiple projects simultaneously. They will collaborate and advise with in-house construction project management staff on the environmental graphics associated with our non-capital and capital projects, while adhering to deadlines and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities -
1. Responsible for developing and maintaining graphic design standards and guidelines for the University, ensuring consistency across various spaces and locations
2. Creates digital prototypes and mockups to present design concepts to clients and University stakeholders for feedback and approval. Works within project budgets and provides cost estimates for proposals, materials, and production
3. Procures and oversees the installation of a variety of two and three dimensional signs that identify, direct, inform, interpret and visually enhance the campus environment
4. Able to make proper decisions on-site during installations
5. Creates architectural floor plans and signage message schedules to determine the most effective placement of signage ensuring seamless integration of graphics with the overall space design
6. Reviews construction drawings (in-house and outside consultants) to ensure consistency with overall plans and optimal use of design elements to achieve objectives
7. Contracts with Environmental Graphic Design Consultants and signage vendors and reviews design documents and submittals to verify compliance with KSU Environmental Graphics Guidelines. Able to review and provide constructive feedback on fabrication drawings in the SD, DD and CD phases of the project
8. Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in graphic design, environmental design, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture or related field from an accredited institution of higher education in related field
Required Experience
Eight (8) years environmental graphics related experience
Knowledge of ADA and building code requirements for environmental graphics
Ability to read and develop architectural plans and details related to environmental graphics
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other 3D modeling (AutoCAD, Revit) and rendering tools.
Strong understanding of visual communication, typography, color theory and design principles
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Proven experience with production of interior /exterior signage and campus wayfinding plans, signage schedules
Direct experience collaborating with architectural firms on higher education building projects
Proposed Salary

Able to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently while meeting assigned deadlines and budgets, often while coordinating with project managers on larger projects
Must maintain high quality control of all finished print media and completed signage
Maintains ongoing awareness and stays updated with the latest design trends, materials, and technologies in the field of environmental graphic design
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of wayfinding principles and human-centric design
Knowledge of sustainable design practices and materials
SKILLS
Excellent teamwork and problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to effectively convey design concepts and ideas
Experience in managing projects from concept to completion
Creative problem-solving skills and ability to think conceptually
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
