Job Summary:

The Kinnection Search and Engagement Subject Matter Expert (.20 FTE) is responsible for outreach and engagement with youth and their identified kin. The role receives referrals from Colorado county child welfare agencies and conducts outreach to connect with referred youth. The position works collaboratively with youth to identify potential kin connections and cultures with which the youth identifies. Additional kin may be identified through information provided by counties and through the use of a kin search platform. The position demonstrates expertise in preparing approved kin and youth for connection by providing education related to grief and loss and supports the process of establishing and maintaining these connections. For youth who identify with a particular culture, the position also assists in identifying and facilitating meaningful cultural connections.

The position participates in multidisciplinary staffing's, bringing subject matter expertise concerning stabilizing youth and supporting their ability to build and sustain relationships with identified kin. Additionally, the position completes pre- and post-program surveys with youth to collect feedback and support program evaluation and metric reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • 25% - Leverage expertise in foster youth needs to conduct outreach to identified kin connections and coordinate with DHS to support youth engagement.
  • 20% - Facilitate the search and identification of potential kin connections
  • 15% - Serve as a subject matter expert in youth behavioral health needs, preparing youth and kin for engagement through individual and group processing, including grief and loss support.
  • 10% - Support connection and ongoing relationships with youth in collaboration with CASA volunteers and other involved professionals.
  • 10% - Conduct outreach and engage youth identified through DHS referrals
  • 5% - Identify potential cultural activities and connections for the youth.
  • 5% - Plan and support healthy, intentional transitions and termination of program involvement with youth and identified connections.
  • 5% - Complete pre/post surveys with youth to gather feedback and support evaluation of program outcomes.
  • 5% Participate in in the program's consultation process (KIDS) as an expert in child welfare youth service needs.



Work Location:

Remote - this role is eligible to work remotely, but the employee must be in the United States.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience working with foster care youth and/or youth with behavioral health challenges/disorders.


Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in social work or related field.
  • Conducted kin searches.
  • Implemented grief and loss processes.
  • Experience with counseling and other services utilized by youth in the foster care system.
  • Participated in multidisciplinary staffing.

Condition of Employment:
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: $15,303.40- $19,465.80 for a .20 FTE position.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
