The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of emergency psychiatry, especially the evaluation and management of suicidality, homicidality, behavioral agitation, and acute presentations of mood, anxiety, psychosis, and substance use disorders. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology certified or eligible.

Teaching responsibilities may include clinical supervision of medical students, psychiatry residents, and emergency medicine residents in emergency psychiatry; didactic teaching of psychiatry residents in emergency psychiatry.

Clinical responsibilities may include delivery of care in the Crisis Response Center at Pennsylvania Hospital, including serving as physician leader of the interdisciplinary treatment team; assessment of patients in crisis; medication management of psychiatric emergencies; ensuring of safe disposition; and collaboration with advanced practice practitioners. Additional responsibilities will include collaboration with emergency department providers and engagement in quality and safety initiatives.

Candidates with relevant qualifications and interest may also be considered for clinical leadership responsibilities.
