The goal of the Center is to promote the advancement of women majoring in computing in college. While best practices for how to increase representation of women are well documented and widely known, stagnant percentages indicate that uptake of these practices has been slow. In response, the goal of the Center is to work with 25 large computing programs over the next six years to implement evidence-based practices to substantially grow the average representation of women majoring in computing and create a national demonstration effect.

An expert on implementing best practices for women in computing, the Program Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the Center. These include the grant making process, the provision of technical assistance to universities, and peer to peer mentoring. In addition, the Program Director will have responsibility for working with colleagues and consultants on monitoring and evaluation, research, and strategic communications.

The Program Director reports to the Executive Director of the Center, will supervise the Program Coordinator, and will work closely with the Technical Advisors, Researcher and Communications Specialist.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in technical assistance delivery as feasible and appropriate.
  • Develop and implement process for peer-to-peer mentoring across participating universities, leveraging existing gatherings such as CRA-W, ACM, NCWIT, Grace Hopper Celebration etc.
  • Work closely with the Communications Specialist to develop and implement communications that reach other universities and the community of people working on broadening participation in tech.
  • Collaborate with the Researcher to identify insights and learnings emerging from the technical assistance, grant making, and translate those into published findings.
  • Work closely with the Program Coordinator and the Technical Advisors on monitoring and evaluation, ensuring there is a dashboard in place for each university and then aggregating so it can be used for strategic communications and research, and also so that it can be shared publicly.
  • Support Executive Director in managing and leveraging the Advisory Committee, a group of around seven thought leaders dedicated to promoting women in computing.
  • Work with Executive Director and key members of the Khoury College staff to steward relationship with founding donor and to cultivate new relationships over time.

    Qualifications:

Ten+ years of experience in higher education and/or nonprofit grant making.
Master Degree in computing, business, administration or other related field.
Expertise in implementing best practices for women in computing and computing/STEM education.
Experience working on initiatives that demand culture change and buy-in across the leadership hierarchy.
Versatility with analyzing data to inform grant making and technical assistance decisions.
