Executive Director, NEIDL, National Emerging Infectious Disease Lab (23599931620524)

Tracking Code: 23599931620524

Job Description
Boston University's National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL), a premier scientific organization located in Boston, Massachusetts, seeks a strategic, collaborative and forward-thinking professional to serve as its Executive Director (ED). This is a compelling role for an executive who will be inspired by the opportunity to contribute to the future of an organization that represents a major step forward in advancing public health and complementing the region's reputation as the biomedical research hub of the nation.

The National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories is a sophisticated research facility that supports investigators who focus on infectious diseases that are-or have the potential to become-global public health concerns. Located within BioSquare, a biomedical research and business park adjacent to the Boston University Medical Campus, the NEIDL is a major player in the established life sciences industry in Boston and beyond.

The NEIDL's research program focuses on understanding how pathogens cause disease and developing novel diagnostics, vaccines and treatments to combat them. The NEIDL houses biosafety level 2 (BSL-2), BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratories, designed to permit investigators to work safely with these agents. The NEIDL is owned and operated by Boston University but is also one of only two national laboratories equipped to study the highest consequence pathogens.

Reporting to the NEIDL Director, the Executive Director will serve in a senior leadership role to formulate, manage, and execute strategies and programs to advance the NEIDL mission for pandemic preparedness, ensuring efficient operations and strategic and fiscal planning. The ED provides expertise in strategic planning and implementing new and existing NEIDL programs, setting priorities, forecasting and meeting NEIDL's programmatic needs. The ED will play a key role in efficiently harnessing the capabilities of the NEIDL by carrying out a broad range of operational, financial, management and administrative responsibilities.

Required Skills
The successful candidate will possess a master's degree, or higher, in a related discipline or equivalent experience; at least ten years of direct leadership experience, including eight or more years of demonstrated administrative, financial, and personnel senior management experience; broad organizational leadership capacities; strategic vision; mission-orientated with a strong passion for the success of the organization; expertise and experience in managing a complex organization; and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

All applications, nominations and inquiries are invited. Applications should include, as separate documents, a CV or resume and a letter of interest addressing the themes in the profile.
