POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development, the director of student management funds and finance applied learning will build out and provide leadership for the suite of undergraduate and graduate student managed investment funds, related competitions, and other finance applied learning opportunities in collaboration with associate deans, the area chair for finance and business economics, faculty, and other administrators. The director will be responsible for increased student engagement in finance applied learning, while elevating awareness of the Gabelli School and these initiatives, both internally and externally.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and implements an approach to a expand the number of student managed funds in collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and administrators, especially the Finance area. Rooted in Finance, such initiatives could include interdisciplinary offerings that span multiple areas, including but not limited to ESG and a graduate student managed fund.

  • Builds and promotes relationships with the University's Chief Investment Officer, the Office of Finance, and the University endowment office to ensure the suite of managed funds is well supported and aligned with the University's best interests.

  • Determines investment fund performance and student outcome metrics to regularly assess the performance of the suite of student managed investment funds and finance applied learning opportunities. Communicates these performance metrics and progress through semi-annual and annual reports to internal stakeholders on progress.

  • Organizes and supports student internal and external competitions across an array of areas closely aligned with the focus of the student-managed funds and finance applied learning opportunities.




  • Coordinates collaborative approach among advisors of all finance clubs. ensuring a full program of events is coordinated with related activities of other finance clubs.

  • Represents the school at recruitment events, conferences, and other internal and external events.

  • Develops an annual calendar for faculty, administrators, and students sharing finance applied learning opportunities, such as workshops, competitions, conferences, club events, and speaker series.

  • Explores and evaluates potential external industry related partnerships.

  • Works with relevant area chairs and associate director of academic effectiveness and accreditation to develop benchmarks for student outcome related metrics.

  • Collaborates with Gabelli School marketing and communications team to elevate awareness of and engagement in finance applied learning, as well as build reputation of the Gabelli School in this space, both internally and externally with key target audiences.

  • Represents the Gabelli School's student managed investment funds and applied learning initiatives to alumni and participates in fundraising opportunities in collaboration with DAUR.

  • As directed, teaches two Finance area courses each semester.




QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience, with knowledge of financial markets, portfolio management as well as the higher education setting

  • Knowledge of and experience in sustainability and ESG

  • Strong track record in building networks, collaborative approach and fostering a sense of community and cooperation between and among diverse groups.

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Team orientation, creative approach, and ability to persist through challenges to achieve goals.

  • Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills.

  • A strong desire to advance the needs of business students and to create new opportunities.

  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.
