JOB SUMMARY

The Development Associate will provide a high level of administrative and organizational support to the development staff of the college ensuring a smooth day-to-day flow of development operations. The position requires excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, project management, and the ability to collaborate with other members in Advancement, academic departments, and Deans' offices. The individual in this position works independently with minimal supervision.

Must be comfortable communicating with parents, alumni, and faculty on the phone, email, and in person and acting as a liaison with other groups across Northeastern University.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. A writing and/or journalism background a plus. Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment when dealing with confidential and sensitive material. Ability to manage and facilitate an intense workload while producing quality results in a fast-paced environment while working on multiple priority projects. Strong organizational skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook; knowledge of Salesforce a plus. Must possess the necessary interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external constituents to include donors, prospects, alumni, parents, deans, faculty, and staff. Knowledge and skills are normally acquired through completion of an Associate's degree, certificate program, or equivalent. One or more years of experience in office management, administration, or customer service environment (higher education, development, and/or communication experience preferred).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

1) Provides support and management of logistics for the Associate Dean. Responsibilities include but are not limited to proactively updating supervisors on status of projects; scheduling travel and handling complex calendars; managing monthly expense reports and reconciling departmental budgets; organizing small-scale events (on/off-campus), handling all details to ensure successful completion; working with University Events and Office of Alumni Relations colleagues on larger events; gathering/maintaining data and assisting in the preparation of reports using a variety of computer software; organizing and implementing administrative systems and procedures; and, composing, proofreading, editing and preparing regular correspondence, acknowledgements, mailings, reports, publications, online communications, and other materials.

2) Ensures that key contacts, correspondence, strategies, and meeting/call reports are entered in relationship management software for major and principal gift prospects. Prepare gift documentation for processing. Monitor activity with prospects and donors by designing and extracting reports. Monitor and implement systems to ensure strategic follow up by senior administrators and faculty.

3) Prepares action-oriented agendas, briefings, and other materials for internal and external meetings on a timely basis. Coordinate with appropriate departments / individuals to assure data is accurate and up to date.

4) Complete other duties as assigned.
