We seek a dynamic, collaborative DNP/FNP faculty member who has an established track record for high quality teaching and curricular development at the university level and who is interested in preparing Nurse Practitioners for 21st Century careers. Faculty members of the program are experienced educators, respected clinicians and scholars who share a passion for teaching, mentoring students, and the delivery of quality patient care.
The BSN to DNP/FNP program is designed primarily as a post-baccalaureate Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program of study leading to a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)- Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). The position is primarily in the graduate program, but the candidate may teach across programs. The ideal candidate must be certified as an FNP and have online teaching experience. Opportunities for teaching are in primary care sequence, as well as in the candidate's area of expertise. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment.
The chosen candidate must be academically and experientially qualified to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected program and student learning outcomes; vested to provide effective instruction and leadership to students, and work collaboratively with program staff and faculty in alignment with the standards and guidelines of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF).
This Faculty position will report directly to the Chief Nurse Administrator and carry a course load of 24 credits/academic year through the University; will demonstrate the ability to creatively engage students in didactic, experiential, and practicum learning opportunities; collaborate with other undergraduate and graduate program leaders, and other faculty members/staff of the university.
This 12-month appointment and will be hired at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with teaching and program development responsibilities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
Bay Path University's School of Education, Human and Health Sciences houses the University's Genetic Counseling, Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Healthcare Management, Public Health, Clinical Mental Health and Programs in Education, Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis. Through evidence-based practice and project-based learning, most of these programs prepare health care professionals for success in a rapidly changing global environment, with applied work, clinical rotations, practicums and fieldwork assignments.
The scholar selected for this position will join a collaborative and dedicated School which emphasizes excellence in education at all levels. The faculty member will be expected to participate in curriculum and programmatic development and innovation; advisement of graduate students; participate actively in local, state, and national professional organizations; and contribute to the service mission of the University and the School of Education, Human and Health Sciences.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assume responsibility for online didactic teaching as assigned.
- Working with the Program Director, assume responsibility for course planning, implementation and evaluation in the program.
- Participate in the selection of instructional materials, library resources, and other materials necessary for enhancing the teaching/learning experience.
- Working with Practicum Coordinator
- Assume responsibility for clinical supervision of assigned students.
- Collaborate in choosing appropriate clinical experiences to meet the stated course objectives.
- Maintain evaluative records of student performance and conference with students regarding their progress at appropriate intervals.
- Conduct student advisement and assessment of learning outcomes on a regular basis according to the program's assessment plan.
- Maintain required weekly office hours.
- Participate in all CCNE accreditation activities, such as but not limited to: report writing and data collection.
- Work collaboratively with nursing colleagues and colleagues from other disciplines.
- Remain actively involved in professional organizations, maintain scholarship in the field of nursing.
- Actively seek opportunities for and participate in Nursing Education's faculty governance.
- Support and provide supervision in student DNP projects.
- Produce intellectual contributions leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals, and service are required.
- In collaboration with the Center for On-line Learning and assigned Instructional Designer(s):
- Work to develop and maintain courses in Canvas LMS.
- Maintain knowledge and skills in the area of clinical expertise (i.e., through direct care, coordinator of care, staff development continuing education, health policy, consultation).
- On-campus presence required.
- Participate in University, Program, and School of Education Health and Human Sciences' meetings and activities.
- Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by the University.
- Doctoral degree (DNP, EdD, or PhD) required.
- Current, unencumbered MA Registered Nurse License and certification as a nurse practitioner required.
- National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Minimum of 3 years, current clinical experience as Family Nurse Practitioner required.
- Ability to teach courses within the Advanced Practice curriculum beyond the specialty. Courses may include data management, epidemiology, nursing research, and DNP Project courses.
- Evidence of continued and progressive professional development in the academic and professional communities.
- Evidence of excellent oral and written communications
- Evidence of teaching and service excellence, including graduate level teaching experience in an academic institution.
- Online teaching experience strongly preferred.
- Computer literacy and proficient with computer Learning Management Systems (LMS) strongly preferred.
- Adept interpersonal skills and communication: personally, via phone, email and web-conferencing.
- Evidence of current practice in the field as a FNP.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
- Must successfully pass the online Safe Driving Course (within 15 days of hire) and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter.
- If you operate a University owned, leased or personal vehicle at any time while performing your duties you must follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Operations Manual. You must have a valid driver's license and must successfully pass the online Safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter. Additionally, you must report any driving offense, on or off company time, which causes a loss, suspension, or any other change in your license status. You must report this change within one business day of the offense. You can report this change to the Human Resource Department or your direct supervisor. Failure to do so can lead to disciplinary action, up to and including terminations.
