About the Position:
The University Police department is dedicated to ensuring the University Community's right to a crime free environment through exemplary and professional service. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Communications/Dispatch Specialist (Administrative Analyst/Specialist-Non-Exempt). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the supervision of the Support Services Captain, the Communications/Dispatch Specialist will lead, plan, direct, and coordinate the day to day functions of the University Police Department (UPD) Communications Center. Responsible for scheduling full and part-time dispatchers, coordinating and reviewing the dispatcher training program, conducting leave time audits, providing input for performance evaluations and coordinating with all local allied agencies. Supports internal customers by providing CAD, radio and IT training for new police officers, and providing CAD data and audio/video for investigations, and coordinating with other campus departments as needed. Maintains all radio equipment, CAD, 9-1-1, cameras, Alarm Center and Card Access databases. Leads the exploration of new technology systems to enhance the Communications Center functionality. Other duties as assigned.




Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs. Working knowledge of the general practices, program or administrative specialty. Basic knowledge of and the ability to apply fundamental concepts. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the applicable program, organizational unit or administrative specialty. Knowledge of and the ability to apply basic methods and procedures used for research and statistical analysis. Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques. Ability to make independent decisions, exercise sound judgment, handle multiple priorities, and organize and plan work assignments. Ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Special Working Conditions:
Ability to work at day/night and weekday/weekend. Ability to respond to campus in emergency situations in a timely manner.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) position under the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. CSAs are responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act Crimes reported to them or that they witness. CSA training is required.
