Banquet Chef - Full Time


The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Banquet Chef - Full Time.

At the Morris Inn, our mission is to serve as the living room of the University of Notre Dame, where we deliver an exceptional guest experience with a higher degree of hospitality to create lasting loyalty. After a full kitchen renovation in the year 2013, the Morris Inn banquet kitchen now features state-of-the-art equipment such as a Rational Oven, Anti-Griddle, and Paco Jet.
This position is responsible for all planning and directing of banquet food preparation. Quality control and production logistics will play a large part in the chosen candidate for this role. The position involves a large degree of supervising of a banquet culinary team including staff scheduling and management. The Banquet Chef may be responsible for working with the Purchasing Coordinator to manage food purchases and inventory. The Banquet Chef works closely with the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage to ensure all dietary restrictions are met for events.

    Banquet Chef responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
  • Working with the Executive Chef to administrate and coordinate the operational plan.

  • Directly leading the culinary team on the floor in the kitchen in preparation of all food produced.

  • Observe and assess/evaluate employees technical skills, identifying areas of improvement and then facilitating the needed training

  • Working together with the Executive Chef on staff scheduling, daily cooking timelines and production schedules

  • Inspects completed food products to insure they meet or exceed standards of quality and appearance

  • Conducts continuing analysis of food procedures and makes necessary changes to improve quality of products and operational efficiency,

  • Assists in purchasing, maintaining appropriate inventories

  • Directly oversees the teams daily sanitation procedures of all kitchen equipment and kitchen facilities

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Associates Degree in Applied Science or Occupational Studies; a graduate of a certified apprenticeship program or up to 3 years of college or technical school preferred but not required. 3 to 4 years of experience working in a banquet kitchen working all culinary stations. Must have good leadership skills and the propensity to engage with the team Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance to professional standards and come with a positive attitude.
