About the Opportunity:
The Associate Dean for Administration and Finance (ADAF) is the Chief Administrative and Financial Officer for the School and is responsible for the college's day-to-day financial and administrative operations and reports to the Dean. This individual advises/assists the Dean in developing the college's annual revenue and expense budgets, in modeling multi-year financial scenarios and in monitoring financial activity. This individual also establishes and implements policies to direct the administration of areas including financial, staffing, space, data and any other areas as deemed necessary by the Dean. As part of the College Senior management team, the ADAF participates in the development and implementation of the strategic plan for the School and plays a lead role in advancing the mission of the school. The ADAF supports strategic initiatives through data analytics and financial modeling and provides input and guidance on staffing and space requirements necessary to meet strategic objectives needed for decisions regarding resource allocation. The ADAF works closely with the other Associate Deans, department managers, and the Finance and Operations staff for the college to determine budgetary needs and plan new initiatives that are aligned with academic and institutional resources and strategic goals. The ADAF works with staff in the Dean's Office that are responsible for budgetary transactions and matters related to human resources management including, personnel matters, recruitment, retention, performance reviews, disciplinary actions and compensation changes. This individual oversees a small team which works closely with academic and staff groups and departments to manage day-to-day HR issues, such as new hire paperwork, leaves of absences, the timely processing of visa materials etc. Additionally, the ADAF represents the Dean/College to various internal and external audiences and constituents.

Responsibilities:
Administration/Budget: Responsible for preparing multi-year financial models under the University hybrid budget model and developing and managing the School of Law annual operating budget. Report budget-to-actual quarterly performance results to the Office of the Provost and school dean. Work closely with the Dean and department managers regarding all budget issues and needs of the school to ensure that the fiscal goals of the school are attained. Act as the lead human resources administrator for the School of Law ensuring resources and processes are in place to support performance management and professional development. Represent the school on select standing and ad hoc committees related to finance and administration. Liaise with staff in the Office of the Provost, Associate Deans of Administration and Finance in the colleges, central budget, central Human Resources Management, Office of Research Administration and Finance.

Information systems and data: The ADAF is responsible for oversight and management in the areas of data, systems and processes used at the School of Law to support operational decisions and strategic direction. This also includes oversight and management of reporting to accrediting agencies and other external organizations.

Research Administration: Oversight of School of Law staff and processes associated with pre- and post-award management of sponsored research at the School of Law.

Strategic Planning: As part of the School of Law senior management team, the Associate Dean participates in the development and implementation of the strategic plan for the School and plays a lead role in advancing the mission of the school. The ADAF supports strategic initiatives through data analytics and financial modeling and provides input and guidance on staffing and space requirements necessary to meet strategic objectives and inform decisions regarding resource allocation. The ADAF participates in identifying opportunities for program and revenue growth and is involved in the implementation and management of such programs. The ADAF is responsible for assessing and evaluating strategic alternatives and providing recommendations to the Dean and School of Law Senior Leadership, working closely with the other Associate Deans, Assistant Deans and Department managers and school staff to determine budgetary needs, and planning new initiatives that are aligned with the School and University strategic goals.

Qualifications:
BA/BS required, M.B.A. preferred, and 7-10 years of related and progressively responsible experience preferred. Must be highly organized, motivated and energetic. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, make reasoned decisions and provide leadership in a consultative and collaborative environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent management skills. Experience with automated spreadsheets, financial databases and with developing dashboard reports; high level of analytical skills. Criminal background check will be required. Preferred Qualifications include the following: Progressively responsible experience in financial management in a higher education institution using responsibility center management (RCM). Experience with educational and research programs in a university setting. Working experience with Banner or ARGOS financial systems.
