Position Announcement

The division of Institutional Advancement at Utah Valley University seeks a dedicated strategic thinker to join the team as an Assistant Director of Donor Relations. The Assistant Director will manage stewardship activities for major donors in assigned units, focusing on impact and accountability. This will involve working collaboratively with Directors of Development, AVP of Development, and AVP of Strategic Engagement to determine proper stewardship steps to keep donors engaged and informed. In addition, the Assistant Director will oversee the purchasing, inventory, and disbursement of physical gifts for donors, including finding unique and personalized gifts. This position plays an important role in donor retention and satisfaction, ultimately leading to the success of UVU's inaugural comprehensive campaign, EverGREEN.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Assists the Senior Director of Donor Relations in executing strategy development and implementation of a comprehensive donor recognition, acknowledgment, stewardship, and engagement process that can be measured and tracked to increase donor retention. Manages Donor Relations Cycle of Success for assigned units, including ensuring proper receipting, acknowledgments, stewardship, and engagement for major donors.
  • Directs ordering, and distribution of donor gifts for the division including for major events, Major Gift Officers and Donor Relations and Strategic Engagement team. Curate, organize and direct donor gift lists with Director of Donor Relations, Sr. Director of Donor Relations, Major Gifts, VP Executive Assistant, the Associate Vice Presidents of Development and Strategic Engagement, ensuring donors are not missed.
  • Build meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in order to help donors engage in various ways throughout campus.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of experience directly related to the Summary of Duties OR any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling six years.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Communication, Public Relations, English, or a related field, or equivalency and three years of experience in a related field.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

Knowledge;
  • Knowledge of and experience with fundraising procedures, techniques, and best practices.
  • Experience with institutional advancement, nonprofit, or higher education, or business management, with administrative, customer service, and retention practices.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software, including spreadsheets, word processing, graphics presentation, and databases.
  • Knowledge and expertise in the use of English grammar, punctuation, and syntax for both written and verbal communications.
Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with and steward relationships with donors, alumni, and friends of the institution.
  • Must be detailed oriented with the ability to work well as member of a team and with others across campus to achieve shared goals.
  • Skills in task prioritization, time management, customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Innovative, strategic thinker with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with a strong work ethic, robust attention to detail, superb organizational skills and analytical abilities.
