The Department of Health & Kinesiology at the University of Utah is seeking to hire a 0.75 FTE, Career-Line (non-tenure) faculty member with expertise in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). This full-time appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor (Lecturer) or Associate Professor (Lecturer), depending on qualifications and experience.

This is a long-term, renewable position within the University's Career-Line faculty structure, with the potential for multi-year contracts. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, program development, and community engagement in a dynamic and growing academic environment.

Position Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this position is teaching undergraduate courses in both in-person and online formats within the Department of Health & Kinesiology. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach and contribute to curriculum development in areas including:

Emergency Medical Services Core Courses
o Pathophysiology for EMS -- HEDU 4450
o AEMT -- HEDU 5970
o EMS Ethics Div & Law -- HEDU 4400
o EMS Planning and Eval -- HEDU 4950
* EMS Pharmacology (HEDU 3033)
* Medical Terminology (HEDU 3030)
* Anatomy and Physiology(HEDU 4660)
* Other EMS-related and/or Paramedic coursework as appropriate

In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will:

* Contribute to curriculum and program development within Emergency Medical Services.
* Oversee and support experiential learning opportunities.
* Develop and maintain relationships with community and industry partners.
* Participate in university, department, college, and professional service, including faculty governance.
* Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the EMS program.

The standard teaching load is four courses in the fall semester and four courses in the spring semester. Opportunities for summer teaching may also be available. In addition to teaching, all faculty members are expected to participate in university and professional service, including faculty governance.

The Department of Health & Kinesiology prepares future leaders, practitioners, and scholars and serves approximately 1,700 students across its bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs. Undergraduate class sizes typically range from 25 to 75 students.

Emergency Medical Services Program
Emergency Programs, housed within the Department of Health & Kinesiology, oversees curriculum and instruction for the Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) degree. The program currently has approximately 260 declared majors and serves approximately 500 non-major students annually through emergency programs academic courses.

The successful candidate will join a growing program and contribute to the education and preparation of the next generation of EMS professionals and leaders.

The Department of Health and Kinesiology is part of the College of Health and University of Utah Health Sciences. Faculty in the Department of Health and Kinesiology have afforded success in obtaining extramural funding such as support from NIH, CDC, DOD and NSF.
