Job Summary:
Position Emphasis:
The Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine, in conjunction with the University of Colorado Hospital, is recruiting a residency-trained Plastic Surgeon to join the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for a 1.0 FTE position available at the rank of Professor. Candidates must have completed an approved Plastic Surgery residency program and be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
The position will primarily focus on Amputation, Traumatic Limb Salvage, Microsurgery, Nerve Repair, Neuroplastic Surgery, Oncoplastic Surgery, Orthoplastics, Osseointegration, Peripheral Nerve Injuries, Plastic Surgery, Reconstructive Surgical Procedures, Targeted Muscle Reinnervation.
This position will also include responsibilities as the Medical Director of the Wound Care Clinic as well as the Director of Orthoplastic Surgery.
This position involves the care of patients at the University of Colorado Hospital and its affiliates. The candidate should also demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Plastic Surgery Key Responsibilities:
- Adult orthoplastic surgery, wound care, and may have time and coverage dedicated to general plastic surgery.

Director of Orthoplastic Surgery:
The Director of Orthoplastic Surgery provides strategic, clinical, operational, and administrative leadership for the Orthoplastic Surgery Program. This position oversees the multidisciplinary clinical and surgical operations that integrate Orthopaedic Surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery to provide comprehensive care for patients requiring complex limb salvage, trauma reconstruction, soft tissue coverage, wound management, and extremity reconstruction.
The Director serves as the physician leader of the Orthoplastic Section within Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and is responsible for the supervision, mentorship, and performance management of the Plastic Surgery physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) assigned to the orthoplastic program.
Director of Orthoplastic Surgery Responsibilities:
The Director of Orthoplastic Surgery reports to the Chief of the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and works collaboratively with Orthopaedic Surgery leadership, hospital administration, nursing leadership, and departmental leadership to achieve the clinical, operational, educational, and research goals of the Orthoplastic Surgery Program.
Medical Director - Wound Care Clinic
The Medical Director will provide strategic and operational medical leadership and direction for clinical operations working collaboratively with the clinical faculty, staff and leadership of the Hand Clinic at UCH in order to develop and maintain clinical operations which support UCH's mission and values in an organized, effective, innovative, and quality and service-oriented manner. Will be a champion of quality and safety, improving access, and delivery of regional care in the ambulatory environment.
Scope of responsibility will include practice management, operational efficiency, business development, and delivery of outstanding faculty, patient and referring provider service. Has primary responsibility for establishing accountability with providers regarding UCH policies and procedures, operational standards, and quality and service excellence initiatives.
Medical Director Responsibilities:
The Medical Director reports to the Chief of the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and works collaboratively with UCH practice and nursing leadership, other UCH staff, and applicable CUSOM faculty and providers.
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Professor:
- Medical Degree from an accredited school of medicine
- Board Certification in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
- Completion of Plastic Surgery Fellowship (ACGME accredited)
- Ability to obtain license to practice as a physician in the state of Colorado with prescriptive privileges
- Ability to obtain license to practice as a physician in the state of Colorado with prescriptive privileges
- 7+ years' experience in plastic surgery practice for Professor rank
- 7+ years' experience in wound care
- 7+ years' experience in orthopedic surgical techniques
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or training in orthopedic surgery.
- Experience in an academic clinical environment.
- The candidate should also demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in clinical leadership.
- Experience in administrative leadership.
- Experience in amputation and limb restoration surgery.
- Experience in neuroplastic surgery.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Professor: $425,000 - $500,000
Medical Director of the Wound Care Clinic Stipend: $100,421
Director of Orthoplastics Stipend: $100,500
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
