Massasoit Community College is seeking a dynamic and student-centered professional to serve as the Senior Special Program Coordinator - Technical Training Pathways. This position will support the growth and coordination of HVAC workforce training, technical education programming, and registered apprenticeship initiatives aligned with clean energy and workforce development priorities.

The Coordinator will support students from recruitment through completion, employment placement, and transition into registered apprenticeship opportunities. The position will work closely with faculty, employers, correctional education partners, workforce agencies, and community organizations to strengthen career-connected pathways in HVAC and related technical trades.

This role is ideal for an individual with experience in workforce development, technical education, apprenticeship systems, or HVAC industry operations who is passionate about increasing access to high-demand careers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Coordination & Technical Education Support
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of HVAC and related technical workforce programs.
  • Support scheduling, enrollment management, student onboarding, and program implementation for credit and non-credit technical programs.
  • Assist with coordination of HVAC labs, equipment utilization, and instructional resources in collaboration with faculty and academic leadership.
  • Support development and implementation of workforce-aligned curriculum and short-term training opportunities related to HVAC, energy efficiency, heat pump technology, and sustainable building systems.
  • Maintain program records, compliance documentation, and reporting requirements associated with grants and workforce initiatives.
  • Coordinate student workshops, orientations, career exploration events, and employer engagement activities.

Apprenticeship Navigation & Workforce Pathways
  • Serve as the primary apprenticeship navigator for HVAC and related technical pathways.
  • Guide students through the registered apprenticeship process, including career planning, employer matching, application support, onboarding, and retention.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers, unions, workforce boards, and apprenticeship sponsors to expand apprenticeship and employment opportunities.
  • Assist students with identifying and overcoming barriers to persistence and employment through case management and referral support.
  • Collaborate with the Massachusetts Division of Apprentice Standards (DAS), MassHire, employers, and community partners to support apprenticeship compliance and pathway development.
  • Track student progress and employment outcomes related to apprenticeship participation and workforce placement.

Student Support & Partnership Engagement
  • Provide advising and navigation support to traditional students, adult learners, and justice-impacted individuals participating in workforce pathways.
  • Support recruitment initiatives targeting underserved and underrepresented populations in technical trades.
  • Participate in employer outreach, advisory meetings, and workforce partnership development activities.
  • Represent the Future of Work Institute at community meetings, workforce events, and industry convenings.
  • Assist with grant implementation, data collection, performance metrics, and preparation of reports related to workforce development initiatives.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in HVAC, Technical Education, Workforce Development, Business, or related field;
  • Experience in workforce development, technical education, apprenticeship coordination, career navigation, or related field.
  • Knowledge of HVAC careers, technical trades, apprenticeship systems, or workforce training environments.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, employers, and community partners.
  • Experience supporting diverse student populations and individuals with barriers to employment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and student or workforce data systems.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in HVAC, Technical Education, Workforce Development, Business, or related field;
  • Experience working with registered apprenticeship programs or apprenticeship sponsors.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts workforce development systems, MassHire, or Division of Apprentice Standards (DAS).
  • Experience in higher education, community college environments, or correctional education settings.
  • Knowledge of clean energy workforce initiatives, heat pump technology, or sustainable building systems.

Work Environment

Additional Information:
Position Status: Full-time, GRANT Funded, benefitted Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) position. This is a grant-funded position supported from June 2026 through June 2027. Position will conclude upon the completion of the grant.

Hours: 37.5 Hours per week. Work may require occasional evening or weekend training sessions to meet program needs.

Salary: $72,000-$78,000 annually. Salary is commensurate with education, experience and based on the MCCC Classification Study.

Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
