Job Description:

The Administrative and Events Coordinator provides essential administrative and operational support across multiple areas in the Department of Economics, including course management for Principles of Economics (ECON 0110), facilitation and support of multiple department events and conferences, as well as support for the Economics office and assigned faculty This role is critical to the smooth delivery of Principles of Economics (the department's foundational course for the concentration).

This position supports department events and lectures, including virtual and in-person by working collaboratively with faculty hosts, outside vendors, and University departments to oversee the setup of conferences and to execute conference programming material.

Education and Experience
  • Associates degree and 3 years related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and planning skills.
  • Proficiency in office technologies and web-based applications as well as experience with or strong interest in teaching and learning technologies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office i.e., computing proficiency with advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database skills, e-mail and web searching skills. Familiarity with platforms Canvas, Courses @Brown (CAB), Cognos, piazza, Mindtap, Mindlink, Google Workspace, Desktop publishing tools such as Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator preferred
  • Experience organizing and managing large complex events, preferred.
  • Discretion with confidential information with sound judgment and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize assigned work against multiple deadlines and have the capacity to respond and adapt to last-minute changes.
  • Must be a quick learner, self-starter and possess a strong commitment to continuous process improvement.


Additional physical demands and working conditions:

The incumbent will be expected to attend the annual Commencement ceremony which is held in May.
