Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Director of Enterprise Applications provides strategic and operational leadership for the College's enterprise application platforms, with primary responsibility for Workday (HCM, Finance, and soon, Student) and related ERP administration, integrations, security administration, platform stability, and release/change management. This role establishes and runs a scalable operating model and governance structure that ensures reliable service delivery, strong change control, appropriate separation of duties, and alignment with institutional priorities.

In addition, the Director is responsible for ensuring stable operations and planned sustainment of the College's PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS) for an expected ~3-year continuation period, including integrations, access/security practices, operational support, and coordination of enhancements needed during the transition horizon, as well as leading the technical pillar of the Workday Student implementation project.

The Director leads the Enterprise Applications team through five/six direct reports: Workday HCM Manager, Workday Finance Manager, and Workday Technical Program Manager, and Senior ERP Administrators. The Director partners closely with functional leaders in HR, Finance, Academic/Student stakeholders, and other business units to translate institutional needs into a prioritized roadmap and well-governed technical delivery.

Organizational Scope / Direct Reports

The Director of Enterprise Applications directly supervises:

  • Workday HCM Manager
    • Workday HCM Administrator(s)
  • Workday Finance Manager
  • Workday Technical Program Manager
    • Workday Security Administrator
    • Workday Integrations Administrator
  • ERP Administrators responsible for PeopleSoft maintenance and support.


Indirect team functions include:

  • ERP Administration (including Integrations Leads and Student Lead)
  • Workday Security Administration
  • Technical program delivery and cross-pillar coordination
  • PeopleSoft SIS sustainment and integration support (as applicable)


Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Enterprise Applications Leadership
    • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and performance management for the Enterprise Applications management team.
    • Build a high-performing, service-oriented team culture focused on reliability, delivery, and customer outcomes.
  • Governance, Change Control, and Separation of Duties
    • Establish and enforce enterprise application governance, including intake, prioritization, change approval, and release/deployment practices.
    • Ensure appropriate separation of duties across configuration, security administration, testing/validation, and approvals in alignment with policy, audit, and risk requirements.
  • Workday Platform Ownership (Technical)
    • Ensure technical ownership and consistent standards for Workday configuration, security, integrations, release management, and platform stability/monitoring.
    • Oversee troubleshooting, incident response, root-cause analysis, and problem management for enterprise applications.
  • Workday Student System Implementation and ongoing technical ownership
  • PeopleSoft SIS Sustainment (Next ~3 Years)
    • Ensure reliable ongoing operations and support for PeopleSoft SIS during the planned sustainment period.
    • Oversee PeopleSoft-related integrations, access controls, vendor/support coordination, patching/release practices (as applicable), and operational stability.
    • Partner with Academic/Student stakeholders and ITS leadership to prioritize required enhancements and ensure continuity of service through the transition horizon.
  • Integrations and Data Movement
    • Provide oversight for enterprise integration strategy and operational reliability (monitoring, error handling, scheduling, and documentation) across Workday, PeopleSoft SIS, and connected systems.
    • Ensure integration work follows ITS standards and supports data stewardship, privacy, and security expectations.
  • Program/Project Delivery Across Pillars
    • Lead or oversee complex initiatives that span multiple domains (HCM, Finance, and Student-related systems), ensuring predictable delivery and transparent status reporting.
    • Partner with business stakeholders to define scope, delivery approach, timelines, and success measures.
  • Vendor, Roadmap, and Financial Management
    • Manage vendor relationships as assigned (including support, escalation, and contract/SOW coordination).
    • Contribute to budget planning/forecasting for enterprise applications, including staffing, tools, licensing, and professional services.
    • Develop and maintain a multi-year roadmap aligned to institutional strategy, including the PeopleSoft SIS sustainment horizon.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Partnership
    • Partner closely with HR, Finance, and Academic/Student stakeholders to ensure solution design meets business needs and that functional owners have clear testing/validation responsibilities.
    • Coordinate with ITS teams (infrastructure, security, identity/access, data, project management) to ensure end-to-end delivery and operational readiness.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise applications/ERP environments (higher education preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise application delivery and operations, including change control, release management, and service reliability.
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience, including managing managers and/or leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with Workday.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and to lead through influence across departments.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday experience across multiple domains (HCM and/or Finance), including governance, security, integrations, and release planning.
  • Experience establishing application governance models (RACI/decision rights, intake, prioritization, SLAs/OLAs).
  • Experience sustaining or modernizing PeopleSoft SIS (or similar SIS) and managing integrations between SIS and ERP platforms.
  • Higher education enterprise systems experience and familiarity with compliance/audit expectations.

Salary: The salary range for the is Director of Enterprise Applications is $145,000-$160,000 commensurate with experience and education.
