Position Announcement

Utah Valley University invites passionate nursing educators to join a student-centered, teaching-focused institution as a non-tenure track Professional-in-Residence faculty member. In this role, you will shape the next generation of nurses by developing and delivering high-quality undergraduate instruction across a broad range of nursing subject areas, using flexible teaching modalities that include face-to-face, hybrid, online, and live-stream formats. With a standard 15-credit teaching load each semester, this position offers meaningful classroom engagement and the opportunity to connect with diverse learners in both traditional and nontraditional settings.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms, online, and laboratories through demonstration, discussion, visual aids, individualized instruction, lectures, and other appropriate educational delivery methods.
  • Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught.
  • Prepares instructional materials.
  • Evaluates student performance using appropriate testing and grading procedures.
  • Engages in student recruitment, adjunct training, overseeing courses with many sections, evaluating concurrent enrollment teachers, and assisting in clinical, internship, and coaching placement.
  • Serves the department and community by attending departmental meetings, working on committees, and accepting other department and community-facing service appointments.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications


  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree in Nursing.
  • Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content.
  • Must have a minimum of three years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of six months of post-secondary teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an institution accredited by a national nursing accreditation agency body with a Doctoral degree or enrollment in a Doctoral program in Nursing or a related field.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
  • Licensed as a registered nurse in Utah.

  • Proficient in managing large courses with many sections and interacting with community partners.
  • Specific interest in teaching introductory courses, potentially involving collaboration with Concurrent Enrollment instructors.
  • Teaching pedagogy in a variety of delivery formats.
