Join Utah Valley University as the Lead of the People & Culture (P&C) Service Center and help shape a welcoming and efficient employee experience across campus. In this pivotal role, you'll oversee the daily operations of the P&C Service Center, guide a team of part-time employees, and serve as a key point of contact for HR-related inquiries. From coordinating new hire onboarding and federal I-9 completion to supporting student hiring and ensuring consistent service delivery, you'll contribute to a responsive and supportive environment for employees at all levels.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • This position oversees daily operations and directs part-time P&C front desk staff in assisting university customers.
  • The position assists with hiring, scheduling, and training part-time P&C front desk employees.
  • Ensures confidentiality and professionalism is maintained at all times.
  • The employee in this position must remain current on all federal and state laws, including hiring, and federal Form I-9 requirements.
  • Processes and reviews background checks.
  • Ensures and follows up with new hires completing form I-9 within three days of start date, checklist, and background checks.
  • Provides information and assistance to job applicants with respect to the job search and application process; assist applicants with routine questions about job vacancies and application status; and refers requests for in-depth job search assistance to the talent acquisition team.
  • Follows up with P&C department employees as necessary to ensure the resolution of tasks and issues that were initiated by front desk employees as a result of someone contacting the front desk.
  • Maintains knowledge of all Service Center processes and systems including tracking all work through online ticketing system; attends staff meetings, training and workshops and other duties as assigned.
  • Troubleshoots issues that arises and delegate to the Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Prepare a variety of reports.
  • Develops training materials to help ensure part-time employees understand their job responsibilities and facilitates trainings within areas of P&C to help broaden front desk employee knowledge.
  • Creates a wide variety of written materials e.g., directory, extensions, information sheet, etc. for the purpose of providing written reference and conveying information.
  • Acts as liaison for the Assistant Director as necessary.
  • Assists with projects, serves on committees within the institution, and performs other job related duties as assigned.


Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree and one year of experience, OR any combination of education and/or experience totaling three years directly related to the summary of duties.

Preferred Qualifications
Office work experience.

Knowledge
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of human resources processes, procedures, and documentation, as applicable to a public institution
  • Knowledge of legal requirements for the acquisition and retention of employment and/or contract data and documentation
  • Knowledge of general office etiquette to maintain a professional environment
  • Knowledge of computer software applications and data input, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, calendaring and Word
  • Knowledge in supervising, directing, and training employees
