Job Summary:
The University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM), Office of Medical Education at Colorado State University (CSU), is seeking FCB LIC Liaisons for multiple open positions in the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) at the Fort Collins Medical Regional Branch Campus (FCB) in Fort Collins, Colorado. The FTE is between 0.05 - 0.10 FTE (approximately 2-4 hours a week).
The School of Medicine's Office of Medical Education is transitioning the core clinical curriculum into an LIC model, as part of a larger scale full curriculum overhaul. Core clinical education will occur in a longitudinal, integrated fashion primarily in an outpatient setting, with targeted hospital-based training called immersions placed during the core clinical year. Core competencies will be taught encompassing care of adults, children, and pregnant patients taught by providers representing the disciplines of family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, surgery, and emergency medicine.
A longitudinal integrated clerkship (LIC) was created based on three foundational characteristics of an effective, core clinical educational environment:
1. Student participation in comprehensive care of patients over time
2. Presence of a continuous, learning relationship with those patients' clinicians
3. Meeting core clinical competencies in an ongoing, continuous fashion.
Supervision Received:
Reports directly to the FBC - LIC Director and has dotted line reporting to the FCB - Assistant Dean of Education.
Supervision Exercised:
This position has no direct supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) Administration
- Support administration and continuous improvement of the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) in Northern Colorado.
- Coordinate scheduling, faculty appointments, and faculty development to ensure effective preceptor engagement.
- Develop and oversee student orientation, curriculum alignment, and longitudinal patient care systems.
- Monitor student competency, track LIC impact, and facilitate communication between faculty, students, and the school.
- Maintain program materials, provide faculty feedback, and support service-learning activities as needed.
Small Group Learning
- Lead or assign team-based learning sessions on Wednesdays, including shelf review and simulations.
Mentorship and Evaluation Responsibilities
- Precept students and participate in teaching and assessment.
- Identify students needing remediation and coordinate with LIC leadership.
- Gather and share evaluations and feedback between faculty and students.
Work Location:
Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule with select days per week on campus and as needed for in-person sessions/meetings. The position on-site location will be in Fort Collins, CO.
