Primary Duties:
Under general supervision of the lead advisor, the College of Business Academic Advisor supports the recruitment, admission, enrollment, and advisement of approximately 3,200 undergraduate business students from the point of initial inquiry through graduation. Services and activities include academic advising, evaluation of transcripts for transfer eligibility, coordination and presentation of advising related workshops. Additionally, incumbent will represent the department at meetings and events, and perform other advising duties as assigned.

Required Education:

EDUCATION:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE:
One year of full-time equivalent experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate-level, job-related education may be substituted for the required experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. The office is a typical office environment with standard office equipment. Devices used include: personal computer/laptop, multi-line phone, fax, and copier. Position requires frequent use of both standard and specialized computer and online applications. This position alternates between remaining in a stationary position operating a personal computer for long periods of time and frequently moving about inside the office. Must be able to travel across campus to other offices and buildings to collaborate with different support services and perform duties. May require incumbent to move and transport boxes of materials weighing up to 35 pounds. May require set up, take down, and moving of informational booths and/or room set up for workshops and events.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves frequent to constant interaction with students, parents, guests, faculty and staff. Must be comfortable relating to students in both formal and informal settings while maintaining a professional relationship. The office is a typical office environment with standard office equipment. At times, this is a fast-paced environment requiring a flexible schedule. Early morning, evening or weekend hours are required, as needed to travel and complete work, projects or reports. Travel is via private vehicle or rental car. May occasionally work outside and locations may include even and uneven walking surfaces and varying temperatures. Service delivery can vary from individual sessions, small and large group presentations, to hosting informational tables, and occur both on and off campus.
