Position Summary:
The Associate Vice President for Human Resources reports directly to the Vice President of Administration, is a member of the President's cabinet and serves as the chief advisor to the Vice President, President, and other institutional leaders on all matters regarding the employee life cycle. This position is responsible for representing the department on a variety of human resource programs and services as assigned. The position is responsible for employment processes and activities for Faculty, Administrators, Affiliate Faculty, support staff, and student employment. The successful candidate will share the value of inclusive leadership, which is core to MSU Denver's success with employees.

Overseeing the Human Resources/Talent functions for the University, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

Leading the comprehensive employee life cycle and talent processes which places emphasis on hard and soft skills needed for each position on campus.
Working closely with the Equal Opportunity Office to ensure MSU Denvers workforce diversity.
Leading the development of policies and procedures related to human resources.
Planning, directing and coordinating the departments strategic planning and process improvement initiatives that impact the University as a whole.
Overseeing the continued improvement of the annual performance planning, goal setting, and performance measurement processes.
Overseeing employee data and employment records to ensure compliance with state, federal, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures.
Advising supervisors and employees regarding employee relations matters and the Universitys discipline processes.
Serving as the institutions representative on inside and external committees, such as the Presidents Cabinet, Colorado Higher Education Insurance Benefits Alliance (CHIEBA) Trust, College and University Professional Association for Human Resources.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Management, or Business Administration or related field.
Ten years of executive, director or associate director level human resource related experience.
Experience working with multiple employment groups that includes three or more of the following employee classes: contract, administrative exempt, classified employees, hourly, temporary, para professional and professional employees, faculty, staff and/or student staff.
Human Resources experience that includes two or more of the following: recruitment, on-boarding, benefits, performance management, policies and procedures development, training, and records retention.
Experience with dispute processes and conflict resolution and managing/conducting workplace investigations.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters, PhD or Ed in Human Resources, Management, Business, Higher Education or related field.
Human Resource experience serving as a Director of Human Resources in Higher Education.
Prior experience working with state/public employment.
Prior experience as a supervisor over 5 or more employees in a large organization.
State of Colorado certifications in Personal Services Contracts reviews, Selection and Evaluation.
HR Certifications.
Understanding of data, establishing data integrity, and conducting data analysis to produce reports and aid in data driven decision making as needed.
Experience working with Equal Opportunity and/or OFCCP regulations.
Strong track record and references that can validate the candidates human resources, leadership, and /or change management experience.
